Purple Rain has overshadowed every project Prince released in his career.

Because of the overwhelming success of the album and movie, “The Kid” and his era became the standard of how Prince was seen and heard in popular culture for generations.

Such familiarity leads to overlooking aspects of the album Purple Rain, in particular, including themes not represented in the film.This presentation re-examines the finer points of the Purple Rain soundtrack. An album that could only spend 30 days being the follow-up to the successful 1999, before contributing to the phenomenon that has continued for four decades.
